Presence Teletherapy Essentials Wins Two Leading Education Awards

, Primary Category: Press Releases

NEW YORK, December 22, 2020 – PresenceLearning, the leading provider of live online special education related services for K-12 schools, received two top education awards for Teletherapy Essentials, its teletherapy and tele-assessment training and teletherapy platform for school-based special education teams.

For THE Journal New Product Awards, judges awarded Teletherapy Essentials platinum in the Teletherapy/Wellness Program category. Separately, Tech & Learning’s Best of 2020 named Teletherapy Essentials a winner in its annual awards program.

Opening Up Access

In response to COVID-19 related school closures and hybrid models, PresenceLearning quickly developed Teletherapy Essentials to train and support school-based special education teams so they could continue to serve students with special needs during school closings. For the first time, the company opened up access to its proprietary teletherapy platform and network of clinical experts to school-based clinicians to help support their move to remote special education services.

“The PresenceLearning platform is great to have because it makes everyone’s professional jobs easier,” said Heidi O’Leary, director of special services at Maine School Administrative District 75. “Some were struggling with lessons plans and being able to have resources at their fingertips and being able to pull it all together via the platform is huge.”

Teletherapy Essentials training teaches effective delivery of teletherapy and tele-assessment on the company’s award-winning FERPA and HIPPA compliant platform, which was designed by clinicians for clinicians to serve students with special needs. As the school year has progressed, the company has seen continued growth in the number of schools and districts who are using the platform and training with their school-based teams.

“The teletherapy trainings have been incredibly invaluable. I was not taught to do speech in this way and always thought therapy needed to be conducted in person,” said Melissa Phillips, speech-language pathologist at Lewis Cass Intermediate School District. “The team at PresenceLearning showed me this wasn’t the case—they were so supportive and answered all my questions so that I could jump right in.”

THE Journal New Product Awards recognize outstanding product development achievements of manufacturers and suppliers whose products or services are considered to be particularly noteworthy in the transformation of education technology. “Perhaps more than ever, 2020 has been a year defined by the use of technology in education. We’re pleased to recognize these products that are making a difference for students, teachers and administrators alike,” said David Nagel, editor-in-chief of THE Journal.

Tech & Learning Best of 2020 judges evaluated areas such as value, uniqueness in the market, and the product’s ability to solve specific problems for educators and administrators. To view the full list of winners, visit here.

“One thing this challenging year has taught us is that education continues to be one of the most resilient and passionate industries around,” said Tech & Learning’s Content Director Christine Weiser. “The winners of the Best of Show at ISTE and The Best of 2020 are examples of how innovation will continue to transform teaching and learning through this pandemic and beyond.”

In 2020, PresenceLearning was also recognized as a gold winner by the Customer Sales & Service World Awards for the company’s services to help school-based clinicians continue serving students with IEPs remotely.
